* The first steps: HOLY NOISE
Rob Fabrie’s career started in 1990 as a member of the famous group HOLY NOISE. On stage the group was formed by Paul Elstak, Rob Fabrie and Richard van Naamen (The producers). Holy Noise was further joined by: Alee doing the rap vocals on the records, MC ruffian provided the extra vocals and the two dancers Erwin and Natasja. Many big hits were made: Father forgive them, Get down everybody, James Brown is still aliveThe nightmare.

The group went to play in New York, Belgium, Germany, France, Greece and did a club tour throughout Holland. The records where sold worldwide and top positions in Japan and Germany where also reached.  One album was produced: Organoised Crime.

The tracks Holy Noise made were to hard for Hithouse Records, so they went to Midtown Records, they  liked the tracks and Rotterdam Records was born. The first release was Amsterdam waar lech dat dan by the Euromasters, today considered a classic. The second release was The sound of Rotterdam which featured the tracks that where considered to be to hard. In 1992 Holy Noise remixed The Nightmare on Rotterdam Records and that one became a huge hit.

Rob left the group in 1992 to work on solo productions.

In 1993 Rob met Lex van Coeverden and he was the label manager of Dance International Records. He liked Rob’s new tracks and wanted to release them. Using the alias of Waxweazle as a writer and the artist name of Somebody from Rotterdam the tracks where released. Success in both Germany and Japan followed; other productions on the label went the same way.

In the beginning of 1994 Rob got in contact with Duncan Stutterheim (ID&T), in that meeting he also met Peter Paul Pigmans and Ed Bout. Together with Peter Paul he set up 3 steps ahead, they both made Motherfuckers you’re gonna die and This is the Thunderdome. Later that year Rob was offered his own record label at ID&T.

* A huge step: WAXWEAZLE VINYL (The ID&T years)
Rob for the first time in his life was now in full control of his own music and how it was presented. The first release was Legs by DJ WAXWEAZLE and that one sold 2000 copies in one week. The record label was off to a flying start, many releases followed; some almost making it to the official charts in the Netherlands. Some of the hits from the Waxweazle era where: Legs, It’s about time, Spread your wings, Pump it dj, Our Nightmare, Hardcore Power and Fixxxed.

Other producers also got the chance, Tails & Noizer, Recharge, DJ Delirium, E-Rick & Tactic, DJ Promo and many more made records on the label. A total of 30 releases where made on the label. ID&T also supported the dj career of Rob and gave him the opportunity to play on Thunderdome, Global Hardcore Nation, Earthquake and many other parties. In 1997 Rob decided to go back to his harder edged sound of Somebody from Rotterdam and slowed the tempo down… Sweet Dreams (you bastard) was born. Rob decided that he didn’t want it to be released as a Waxweazle production so the name HEADBANGER was born. A huge hit was the result and today it’s considered to be a classic!

* A different approach: THE HEADBANGER
For the follow-up Headbanger record Rob went back to Rotterdam Records. First hit was The Nightmare Man. The third record was called: The Third Torture and it had the huge hit NO LAW on it. This one outsold all the other Headbanger records till that day, a true classic! The final installment was Enter the 4th Dimension and it had the hits Headbanger’s Theme (together with Holy Noise buddies Alee and Ruffian on vocals), I’m In Your Yead and The Wishmaster. The shout:  “Don’t You Wanna Be A Headbanger” can still be heard today on every party and is the true Headbanger’s anthem.

Rob met the famous Rotterdam Terror Corps, they hooked up and made the record Bangin Your Fist on Megarave Records. After that Rob was offered to do more on the label, a new alias was made for the project: Alienator. The first 12 inch Prey was an instant hit. Paul Elstak was also producing for Rige and he and Rob hooked up together again for the 12 inch Your Mother Sucks Cocks In Hell. Released on the new label Offensive Records this track was a huge hit.

After this Rob was offered by Rige to do a Headbanger album. This became a triple cd with the title Are u afraid of the Dark and was released in 2001. Hits were: Are U Afraid Of The Dark, The Ninth Gate, Violator, Strike (feat Alee), This Is War, Causin Panic, Psycho Game (feat. RTC), Prey, Your Mother Sucks Cocks In Hell (feat. Paul). The next album was called Pray 4 Daylight and was released in 2003. A double cd with the hits: Pray 4 Daylight (feat. Alee), Fuck HIM (feat. Paul),Violator (Tommyknocker rmx), Danger (feat. DJ Delirium), and Pandemonia (Headbanger rmx) (feat. RTC). The third album was called Serious Damage and was released in 2004. This album had the following hits: Serious Damage (feat Alee), Causin Panic (DJ Paul rmx), Worldwide Blast Off (feat. Delirium), Pain is God (feat. Dione), Evil Never Dies, A Taste Of Fear (feat. Paul), Dead By Dawn (Dione rmx) and God Is Not Here Today (feat. Paul). The 4th album was Apocalyse and the fifth album was R-Evolution (to celebrate 10 years of The Headbanger).

No albums where made after that.

The trance side of Rob started with a get together with Ed Bout (Critical Mass)  and together they formed the project Mindwalkers. It was released on the Midtown sublabel Massive Drive Gold and sold really well. The tracks were on several compilations and the follow–up was made. Together with Ed came projects like Kokopelli and Oblivion on Midtown’s  Celebrative label and Children of Roswell on Momentum Records at Essential Dance Music.

Rob started also to make solo trance records and the first was DaydreamerThe Beginning“ on Byte Blue. On Premium Records (Midtown) he made Sunrider “Maiden Voyage”  and  “Ecliptic “. Then came the Gizeh project in cooperation with Liquid (NL). The first 12 “ was “ The rain / Ra” and sold really well and made it on lots of compilations. The follow–up was  “Orion” and it did the same. Then came the proposal from Liquid to make a remix of a track called  “Daytime” (Carlo Resoort). And the remix quickly was played by a lot of DJ’s. The record became a worldwide hit and was sold to many countries. Thanks 2 that remix a lot of important lables suddenly wanted a Gizeh remix.

Through the Gizeh project Rob was accepted to make a record on the famous Tsunami label. The name of the project was Stargate  “ Beams of light “ and through the Purple Eye company Rob was introduced to Maykel Piron ( Warner Music). The project Futura “Far horizon “ was released in februari 2001. Gizeh was produced until 2003.

After many years rob has decided that 2012 marks the return of Gizeh. First release will be on the  brand new NOVO Records run by Rob Lee and Danyella, also a collab with DJ Ram is on the way.

The club music side of Rob really started when he was released on Midtown’s famous Blue Records. The first release was Fab Flavour “Feed the kitty“ and it hit the dance charts in the Netherlands. The follow–up  “Burnin like fire“ also quickly reached the dance charts and sold really well and also had some licenses. Another record for Blue Records was made under the name DJ Rob Fabrie “ Going Out To All The DJ’s” and it made it to the Top 5 in the Dutch Dance Charts.

Rob went on to work with DJ Lars and they formed the Bushwankaz. The first record came out on the Blue Limited label and the title was “Action”. This one also hit the top 5 and is also coming out in the UK. They made a second record on Midtown’s Tindy Tunes label. The first one was Coolshrankaz “Frantic“ and came out in the UK.
